Ramirez vs Richards live results and reactions

Dzmitry Asanau vs Roger Gutierrez by KO in Round 6

Gutierrez (29-8-1, 22 KO) has really started to fade the last few years and fights like he’s a good bit older than his 31 years, he had some rugged nights along the way. He’s still got heart and he’s a scrapper, but that’s the sort of stuff that shortens a prime. Asanau (13-0, 7 KO) took nice advantage of that. He had the edge in technique and freshness, and it showed round-by-round, until he knocked Gutierrez out on a great uppercut in the sixth, a delayed reaction from Gutierrez.

Avery Martin Duval def. Rodolfo Macias by Unanimous Decision

Official Scores: 100-90, 100-90, 100-90 for Duval
BLH Unofficial Score: 99-91 for Duval

Duval (16-0-1, 8 KO) won this handily. Mexico’s Macias (22-5-2, 10 KO) looked potentially dangerous for about half the fight and kept trying for all of it, but it was clear quickly that Duval had the better skills and if he could avoid the whipping rights from Macias, he’d probably win it without any doubt. And he did. And that is that.

Wyatt Sanford def. Juan Pablo Ilharregui by TKO in Round 2

Sanford, 27, was an Olympic bronze medalist. He can box. Not a blue chipper, “great” prospect, but a guy who has a future on these shows at the least. And for the third straight fight on this show, the Canadian prospect got no useful work whatsoever from an opponent flown in by Eye of the Tiger, this time from Uruguay. Sanford is now 7-0 (3 KO).

Keven Beausejour vs Davorin Brajkovic by KO in Round 1

Another nothing fight. Beausejour improves to 3-0 (3 KO), another good domestic amateur, he’s 26, also at 168/175 like Denis mentioned below. This ended on a body shot. They flew in the 20-year-old Brajkovic (3-6, 1 KO) from Croatia because you just can’t find B-sides like this, BoxRec’s #1,069th-ranked middleweight, just anywhere like Quebec or Ontario. Anyway, as someone mentioned in the comments, the kid is basically getting paid vacations around the world; only two of his fights have been in Croatia, otherwise he’s a globetrotter. His midsection paid the fare on this trip, as a body shot finished him off early.

Nickenson Denis def. Lukasz Kucharski by TKO in Round 2

A nothing fight. Denis, 31, was turning pro at light heavyweight, or close to light heavyweight (172 contract weight). It’s not easy to put together a serious pro career when your debut comes at that age unless you were, like, an amazing amateur. He was a good domestic amateur in Canada. So the ceiling is low (the ceiling is probably higher on the card in Quebec), but this was a mismatch. He can box, and Kucharski is not really a “professional boxer” in the way the average person thinks of the gig. He’s 34, from Poland, turned pro last September. You could see the obvious difference in technique and levels. Kucharski was dropped in the first, stopped in the second, fair enough call by the ref.
