Joey Canoy out with visa issues, Oscar Collazo hunting for replacement

Unified minimumweight champion Oscar Collazo is scrambling to find a new opponent for Saturday’s DAZN main event in Oceanside, CA after Filipino challenger Joey Canoy ran into visa issues. The WBO confirmed the development last night, adding that Miguel Cotto Promotions had requested that former title challenger Luis Castillo step in.

Unfortunately for “Flechita,” Fernando Barbosa reports that he likewise lacks a visa.

Collazo (14-0, 11 KO), a borderline pound-for-pound standout and the unquestioned top dog at 105, was looking to make his quickest turnaround since 2023, having run over Jesus Haro on Golden Boy’s Arnold Barboza Jr vs Kenneth Sims Jr show in March. We’ll update this piece if organizers manage to scrounge up a replacement in time; it figures to be an uphill battle, especially considering that there isn’t a lower weight class for them to pull from.
